Disability Sport NI has a range of training courses on offer across Northern Ireland. Our courses cover both theory and practice, and aim to promote and ensure inclusivity across all ages and activities.

Boccia Leaders Award

Boccia Leaders Award

Boccia is a fully inclusive game that people of all ages and abilities can take part in. This course is an introduction to the game of Boccia and provides participants with the basic knowledge required to set up and deliver this activity.

This 3.5 hour course consists of 1 hour of Boccia Theory and 2.5 hours of Practical, covering the following elements:

  • Background to Boccia
  • Court Layout
  • Warm-ups
  • Propulsion
  • Skills
  • Games Play
  • Rules
  • Classification

On completion of the course all participants will receive a Candidate Resource Pack as well as a Disability Sport NI Certificate of Attendance.

Target Audience

Individuals who intend to run regular Boccia sessions and who would possibly be interested in starting out on the Boccia Coaching Ladder.

Entry Requirements

No previous experience of Boccia or coaching is necessary.

Course Fee

£40 per person, reduced rates for educational establishments, youth groups and Disability Sport NI member groups.

Number of participants

Minimum 12, Maximum 24.

Venue Requirements

Suitable access. Dedicated indoor sportshall approximately the size of a 5-a-side football court.
