Performance pathways are a vital component in the performance structure of sport. They create progression for talented athletes in their chosen sport to develop from participation level to elite level. Disability Sport NI works closely with each focus sport to create mass participation, then further the development of talented athletes to create world class performers.

Disability Sport NI work as the regional Governing Body for Wheelchair Basketball in Northern Ireland. Wheelchair Basketball has grown worldwide and was introduced on the global stage at the Rome 1960 Paralympic Games, and today it is practiced in nearly 100 countries

The objective of the regional Wheelchair Basketball Programme will be to improve the performance structures of Wheelchair Basketball in Northern Ireland with the aim of improving the way in which talented players are identified, selected and developed, while increasing the number of local players achieving representative honours at an International level. 

Disability Sport NI are responsible for the preparation, selection and travel of both U15 and U19 regional squads which compete in the British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB) league as well as BWB national youth Paralympic competitions.
