On Wednesday 17 March 2017 office bearers and committee members of the Newtownabbey Branch of Fitness NI presented a cheque for £2,300 to Disability Sport NI Senior Development Officer Aubrey Bingham and board member Michael McAteer prior to their AGM.
The Newtownabbey Branch had agreed to nominate Disability Sport NI as their “charity of the year” and the funds were raised at a Christmas themed afternoon tea in November 2016 and the Branch’s annual Supper Dance held at Ballyclare Golf Club in April 2017. All of the money raised will be used to provide opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to take part in a wide and diverse range of activities across Northern Ireland.
Disability Sport NI board member Michael McAteer thanked the committee for their efforts in raising such a phenomenal amount and for the generosity of the members and their family and friends who attended the events.
