Comber Slimming World raise £1140.20 for Disability Sport NI

Disability Sport NI would like to thank everyone at Comber Slimming World for their very generous donation of £1140.20, 

Comber Slimming World, based in Comber Rifle Club chose Disability Sport NI as their charity to support through extensive fundraising efforts at their Christmas Party and Charity Event. The group were led by the Charity Organising Team Jean McDowell, Lynn Wade, Romona Coates and Lenny Hutchison and supported by the Slimming World group facilitator Eleanor Clarke. Everyone who attends the group generously supported the charity event and contributed to the fantastic total of £1140.20.

Andrea Herron, Communications and Engagement Officer for Disability Sport NI praised the group saying, "It was a pleasure to meet the Comber Slimming World group and see the genuine passion they had for supporting people with a disability to get involved in sport and lead active and healthy lifestyles. It is through community support like this that we are able to continue the great work that we do and expand our grassroots programmes into new areas. We are very grateful and would like to commend everyone on their great work raising such valuable funds for our charity."

At the cheque presentation Disability Sport NI's Assistant Community Development Officer, Brian Lenehan shared his own experience of losing his sight through a sporting injury and the journey that led him back to not only participating in sport again but also supporting other people with a disability to get involved in sport.
