Belfast Lough Sailability (BLS)are pleased to announce that their Senior Sailing Instructor, Colin DeFleury, has been awarded RYANI Instructor of the Year at an awards ceremony held in Malone House on 24th November 2017.
Colin has demonstrated determination, leadership and great patience in his role of RYA RTC Senior Sailing Instructor. Colin's work has allowed BLS to open up a new conduit for sailors with a disability who wish to become more proficient in personal sailing skills and to rise to the challenge of completive sailing if they wish.
As a racing instructor Colin spent significant time preparing disabled sailors to participate successfully in Sailability Ireland's Presidents Cup and Hansa 303 Championships in 2017. Through Colin's instruction, Belfast Lough Sailability sailors were 2nd on the podium and had 5 out of the top 10 boats in the 2017 Hansa Championships held at Carrickfergus.
Colin's work with BLS has assisted the organisation in expanding horizons and leading sailors with disabilities to achievements that many of them thought not possible.
Colin has a way of getting things done by personal example and an invitation to follow, he remains a great asset to Belfast Lough Sailability.
