Case Studies

Our hope is that participating in sport or physical recreation at any level will have a positive impact on the lives of all those we work with. We are honoured to come into contact with many amazing individuals, groups and organisations through our work. Here are some of their stories.

James MacSorley is nineteen years old and from Belfast. He plays Wheelchair Basketball and is currently studying Law with Spanish at Queens University. In his spare time, James also likes to play the guitar. James has had Spina Bifida from birth.

James starting playing Wheelchair Basketball at the age of six. What started out as a hobby has turned into a massive part of his life.

James has represented the Knights Wheelchair Basketball team at junior and senior level and NI at U15, U19 and U23 levels. He has also represented GB at U22 and U23 levels.

Taking part has helped James develop his self confidence and he has loved experiencing the highs and lows of competition with a great group of people. He kindly acknowledges the part Disability Sport NI has played in this.

Disability Sport NI has been a major driving force in the development of Wheelchair Basketball in Northern Ireland over the years. I personally have developed so much as a direct result of the support and platform they have provided. James MacSorley.
