Case Studies

Our hope is that participating in sport or physical recreation at any level will have a positive impact on the lives of all those we work with. We are honoured to come into contact with many amazing individuals, groups and organisations through our work. Here are some of their stories.

Grove Day Centre

The Grove Day Centre is a Belfast Health & Social Care Trust facility at York Road in Belfast. The Day Centre is a part of the Grove Health & Wellbeing Centre which houses a range of services including a Library and a Leisure Centre.

Judith Brennan in her role as the Inclusive Community Coach for older people and people with disabilities visits the centre on a regular basis to help get service users more active. She delivers gentle chair-based exercise sessions and has organised competitions and games between the centre and other community organisations. This provides opportunities for socialising as well as helping to keep the older people fit and active.

The service users seem to really enjoy getting involved and taking part in the sessions and always seem to have fun.

Judith and all of the team at Disability Sport NI provide a friendly service and their activity programme is suitable for a wide range of individuals with varying needs. The service users all look forward to the sessions, I would recommend Disability Sport NI to all groups who wish to get involved with sport and remain physically active.
